“Specs” is further proof that some actors can actually be talented musicians and vice-versa. Like Sonny, he courted acting to get lots of chicks, and once he got his degrees and accolades in both theatre and music departments, he bounced, jauntily, between playing off a chart and playing off a script, on Broadway and beyond. To this day, he dismisses those nasty rumors of his work in ‘90s porn. Of his twenty odd years as keyboardist, Mr. Spector has sunk his teeth into jazz piano for the most recent six. Oddly enough, it’s his jazz sensibility and style that got him in with Nutty from the get-go. That and his uncanny sense of nuttiness. One could say Specs is Nutty’s Bill Evans incarnate . . . without the heroin problem. Go, daddio, go!
